Japanese: 淳風美俗 - じゅんぷうびぞく

Jun is related to jun and pure, and means honest temperament and beautiful customs. It was an idea that served as an important guideline for legislation, national education policies, and labor policies until Japan's defeat in the Pacific War. The ruling class, who had legally established their ruling system through the Constitution of the Empire of Japan, used the Emperor's authority to give the Imperial Rescript on Education as the moral code to be observed by their subjects in order to raise subjects who would be favorable for maintaining and strengthening this system. The second national moral education textbook (1911), which concretely outlines its contents, states, "It is natural human emotion for a child to respect and love his or her parents, and loyalty and filial piety stem from this.

淳は醇，純に通じ，素直な気風，美しい風俗を意味する。太平洋戦争の敗戦まで立法，国民教化政策，労働政策の重要な指針となった観念。大日本帝国憲法により支配体制を法的に確立した支配層が，この体制を維持強化するのに好都合な臣民を育成するために，天皇の権威をもって臣民が守るべき道徳として与えたのが教育勅語であった。その内容を具体的に示した第2期国定修身教科書(1911)は，〈子が父母を敬愛するのは人情の自然で，忠孝はこれに発する。
