Yadokarisunagic (Yadokarisunagic) - Epizoanthus paguriphilus

A coelenterate (Cnidaria) of the family Mycteriaceae in the class Anthozoa. It has been reported from depths of 50-200m in Sagami Bay and 580-1780m in the North Atlantic. It attaches to the snail shell in which a type of hermit crab lives, and gradually dissolves the shell until the zoanthid attaches directly to the hermit crab. Up to 10 zoanthids gather together to form a colony about 6cm long and 4cm wide. The coenchyma is about 1cm thick and transparent blue, purple-gray, or gray-brown. The contracted zoon is 2-2.5cm tall and has orange tentacles.

花虫綱ヤドリスナギンチャク科の腔腸動物(刺胞動物)。相模湾の水深50～200m，北大西洋の水深580～1780mから報告されている。ヤドカリの一種がすむ巻貝の上に付着したものが，しだいに貝殻をとかして，ついにはスナギンチャクが直接ヤドカリの上につくようになる。10個以下のスナギンチャクが集まって長さ6cm，幅4cmほどの群体をつくる。共肉は厚さ1cmほどで，透明な青色，紫灰色や灰褐色。収縮した個虫は高さ2～2.5cmで触手は橙色である。
