This Nanami is modeled after "Ebina no Naami," who appears in the Otogi-zoshi "Sarugenji Soshi." According to the book, Naami was originally a Kanto samurai named Ebina Rokurozaemon, but later went to the capital and became a recluse, serving a daimyo Takaie as an expert in the art of waka and renga. ...

…すなわち，義満近侍の遁世者琳阿弥（りんあみ）作詞の《東国下りの曲舞》の作曲を担当し，藤若（ふじわか）と名のって義満の愛顧を得ていた幼少の世阿弥にこれを御前で謡わしめて，琳阿弥に対する義満の勘当を解かしめたこと，《地獄の曲舞》を作曲したことなどが知られる(以上，《申楽談儀（さるがくだんぎ）》ほか)。　この南阿弥をモデルとするのが，御伽草子の《猿源氏草紙》に登場する〈海老名のな阿弥〉である。同書によれば，な阿弥は初め海老名六郎左衛門と名のる関東武士であったが，のちに都に出て遁世し，和歌･連歌の道の達者として大名高家に近侍したとされる。…
