A town in Iruma County in southern Saitama Prefecture, at the eastern foot of the Chichibu Mountains. The town is served by the Hachiko Line and the Tobu Ogose Line. Rice and field crops are cultivated, and poultry farming is thriving. The town is one of the leading egg producers in the prefecture. Residential development is underway.
