Succinimide

2,5-pyrrolidinedione. C ₄ H ₅ NO ₂ (99.09). Also known as succinimide. It can be obtained by heating succinic acid in a stream of ammonia or by dry distillation of diammonium succinate. Melting point 125-127 °C, boiling point 287-289 °C (partially decomposed). Density 1.41 g cm ^-3 . Sparingly soluble in ether and chloroform. Recrystallization from ethanol produces plate-like crystals with one molecule of water of hydration. The hydrogen of the imide group NH is easily replaced by metals to form N -metal salts. Succinimide can be treated with zinc powder distillation to give pyrrole, and with ethanol and metallic sodium to give pyrrolidine. In addition, the N -alkyl derivative can be obtained by reacting an alkyl halide with a silver salt of succinimide. [CAS 123-56-8]

2,5-pyrrolidinedione．C₄H₅NO₂(99.09)．コハク酸イミドともいう．コハク酸をアンモニア気流中で加熱するか，コハク酸ジアンモニウムを乾留すると得られる．融点125～127 ℃，沸点287～289 ℃(一部分解)．密度1.41 g cm^－3．エーテル，クロロホルムに難溶．エタノールから再結晶したものは板状結晶で1分子の水和水をもつ．イミド基NHの水素は容易に金属と置換し，N-金属塩をつくる．スクシンイミドは亜鉛末蒸留でピロールを，エタノールと金属ナトリウムで処理するとピロリジンを与える．また，スクシンイミドの銀塩にハロゲン化アルキルを作用させると，N-アルキル誘導体が得られる．[CAS 123-56-8]
