When Taira no Koremochi and his party go into the mountains to hunt deer, a woman of high rank is having a drinking party with her maids. She offers sake to the passing party, and when she sees Koremochi getting drunk, she disappears. When Koremochi wakes up from a dream in which he receives a divine decree from Hachiman Shrine, a demon woman appears and attacks him, but he stands up to her, praying to the great bodhisattva Hachiman, and defeats her. [2] Kabuki Shosakuto. A dialogue of Gidayu, Tokiwazu, and Nagauta. Lyrics by Kawatake Mokuami. Music by Tsurusawa Yasujiro, Kishizawa Shikisa VI, and Kineya Shojiro III. [1] 山野に紅葉をたずねて観賞すること。紅葉見。《季・秋》※夫木（1310頃）一五「時雨れゆくかたのの里のもみちかり頼むかげなく吹く嵐哉〈源俊頼〉」[2][一] 謡曲。五番目物。各流。観世小次郎信光作。古名「維茂(これもち)」。平維茂一行が鹿狩に山中にはいると、身分の高い女が侍女たちと酒宴をしていて、通りすぎる一行に酒を勧め、維茂が酔い伏してしまうのを見て姿を消す。維茂が八幡宮の神勅をうける夢を見て目をさますと、鬼女が現われて襲いかかるが、八幡大菩薩を念じて立ち向かい討ち平らげる。[二] 歌舞伎所作事。義太夫・常磐津・長唄の掛け合い。河竹黙阿彌作詞。鶴沢安次郎・六世岸沢式佐・三世杵屋正次郎作曲。明治二〇年（一八八七）東京新富座初演。(一)の舞踊化。戸隠山へ紅葉狩に来た平維茂が更科姫(さらしなひめ)に化けた鬼女を退治する。新歌舞伎十八番の一つ。[三] 長唄・地唄・荻江節・一中節などの曲名。
