A dip pen (a pen that you write with while dipping the tip in ink) with a glass tip. It was first made in 1902 by Japanese wind chime craftsman Sasaki Sadajiro. A normal dip pen is made of metal and is flat with one groove, so it cannot hold much ink in the tip, whereas a glass pen has a rounded tip with 8-10 grooves that allow it to hold more ink. As a result, by dipping the tip in ink once, you can write the equivalent of a postcard, and you can also write by rotating the shaft instead of just writing in one direction. Many of them are made entirely of glass, including the shaft, and are beautiful in design. They have become increasingly popular since the 2000s, when they were featured in the media as an aesthetic writing instrument that is both comfortable to write with and practical.
