The ruins of the largest city of the Indus Valley Civilization, located 36 km south of Lalkana, Sindh, Pakistan. Also known as Moenjo-Daro. In 1922, RD Banerji discovered artifacts identical to those of Harappa, which drew attention to the site. Large-scale excavations were carried out by J. Marshall (1922-27) and EH Mackay (1927-31), which clarified the nature of the site. Small-scale excavations were also carried out in 1950 and 1965, but the groundwater level was abnormally high, and the condition of the ruins below 5 m below the surface, let alone the natural layer, is completely unknown, and only a small part of the city's history is known.
