Monumenta Germaniae historica (English spelling)

A collection of sources on medieval German history. Abbreviation: MTh. After retiring from politics, the Prussian Chancellor KRvom und zum Stein, with a fervent desire to unify the German people, founded the Gesellschaft für ältere deutsche Geschichtskunde (Gesellschaft für ältere deutsche Geschichtskunde) in 1819. Editing began with the cooperation of the young and talented historian Georg Heinrich Pertz (1795-1876), who compiled and published the main sources on the Germanic peoples from 500 to 1500 AD, with as strict textual criticism as possible.
