Born 3 July 1728, Kirkcaldy, Fife
[Died] March 3, 1792. London. British architect and interior decorator. His father William and his brothers John, James and William were also architects, with James (1730-94) collaborating with Robert. Robert travelled to Italy in 1755 to study Roman architecture and ruins. In 1757 he surveyed the ruins at Spalat, and returned to England in 1758. In 1761 he was appointed Royal Architect. In 1764 he published a collection of prints based on his drawings, The Ruins of the Palace of Diocletian at Spalat. He worked tirelessly designing for the next 30 years, decorating many houses, including Syanne House (1760-69), Osterley Park (1761-80) and Harewood House (1758-71), in the elegant and elegant classical style known as the Adam style, and became one of the most popular architects of his time. His other urban development projects in London include Adelphi Terrace, Adam Street, John Adam Street, Robert Street and Portland Place.

German Catholic theologian. He studied at the University of Munich and became a professor at the University of Tübingen in 1919. He was exiled by the Nazis in 1934, but later returned to the University of Tübingen. Based on historical research, he defended the Catholic position against modern thought. His main work is Das Wesen des Katholizismus (1924), or "The Essence of Catholicism."
