Shrike

Japanese: モズヒタキ
Shrike
A general term for birds of the Pachycephalinae subfamily of the family Muscicapidae in the order Passeriformes. Because their cry is a whistle-like sound, they are also called whistlers or bellbirds in English. They are also called thickheads because they have large, round heads, and some species have beaks similar to those of a shrike. The Japanese name, Mozuhitaki, is a translation of this English name. Total length is 14-35cm. There are about 50 species in the Pachycephalinae subfamily, which are distributed from eastern India to Australia and the South Pacific islands.
