Wood products industry

Japanese: 木製品工業 - もくせいひんこうぎょう

Industries that primarily manufacture wooden basic materials such as lumber, plywood, and plywood, as well as industries that manufacture products that use these wooden basic materials, bamboo, rattan, etc. as their main materials. According to Japan's Industrial Classification (revised October 1993), these industries fall into the medium classification of lumber and wooden product manufacturing and furniture and equipment manufacturing (including metal furniture manufacturing and mattress and spring manufacturing). Looking at the shipment value of each, lumber and wooden product manufacturing was 4.2264 trillion yen, of which general lumber (1.5624 trillion yen) and plywood manufacturing (855.1 billion yen) accounted for large proportions, followed by wooden container manufacturing (233.3 billion yen).

主として製材，ベニヤ板，合板などの木製基礎資材を製造する産業，ならびにこれらの木製基礎資材や竹，籐などを主要材料とする製品を製造する産業。日本の産業分類(1993年10月改訂)によれば，中分類の木材･木製品製造業と家具･装備品製造業(ただし金属製家具製造業，マットレス･組スプリング製造業を含む)がこれにあたる。それぞれの出荷額をみると，木材･木製品製造業は4兆2264億円で，そのうち一般製材業(1兆5624億円)，合板製造業(8551億円)の比重が大きく，続いて木製容器製造業(2333億円)となっている。
