The 7th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Son of Murad II. In 1451, he killed his younger brother and ascended to the throne. He is called the "Conqueror." In 1453, he captured Constantinople, destroyed the Byzantine Empire, and moved the capital to Constantinople, renaming it Istanbul.
