Murasakino - Purple

This area is located in the southern part of Kita-ku, Kyoto City. During the Heian period, it was a hunting ground, and there are records of Emperors Saga and Junnin visiting the area. Daitoku-ji Temple, the head temple of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism, was established by Daito Kokushi in 1324 (Shochu 1), and is home to sub-temples such as Daisen-in and Koto-in, as well as famous gardens. To the north of Daitoku-ji is Imamiya Shrine, known for its Yasurai Festival. Other attractions include Kenkun Shrine, which enshrines Oda Nobunaga, and Bukkyo University.

京都市北区南部の地区。平安時代は猟場としての禁野(きんや)であり、嵯峨(さが)天皇、淳仁(じゅんにん)天皇が行幸した記録がある。1324年（正中1）大燈(だいとう)国師が建立した臨済(りんざい)宗大徳寺派の大本山大徳寺があり、大仙(だいせん)院、高桐(こうとう)院などの塔頭(たっちゅう)や名庭がある。大徳寺の北には「やすらい祭」で知られる今宮神社(いまみやじんじゃ)がある。そのほか、織田信長を祀(まつ)った建勲神社や仏教大学がある。
