Musashino Shinden

Japanese: 武蔵野新田 - むさしのしんでん
Musashino Shinden
In order to overcome financial difficulties, the shogunate encouraged the development of new fields during the Kyoho Reforms, and development proceeded nationwide. Musashino new fields were one of the main examples. According to the "Shinpen Musashi Fudokiko," 40 new fields and villages were established in Tama County, 4 in Niiza County, 19 in Iruma County, and 19 in Koma County in Musashi Province, and a land survey was carried out in 1736 (Genbun 1). In 1739, the total number of peasant households that had been established in the new fields was approximately 1,300. Most of the new fields were murauke new fields, and there were few rice paddies and most land fields.
