Kamisagara clan - Kamisagara Uji

...A medieval and early modern samurai family from Totomi. In the Kamakura period, they became land stewards of Hitoyoshi Manor in Higo Province. In the early modern period, they were the lords of Hitoyoshi Domain. They were of the Otomaro lineage of the Southern Fujiwara clan, and were of the same clan as the powerful Ito and Kudo clans of Izu. In the late Heian period, Chuyori lived in Sagara Manor in Sano County, Totomi Province (present-day Sagara Town, Haibara County, Shizuoka Prefecture), and the family is said to have been called the Sagara clan ever since. Chuyori's fourth-generation grandson, Yorikage, and his son, Nagayori, became Kanto vassals and served Minamoto no Yoritomo. It is said that Yorikage went down to the area in 1193 (Kenkyu 4) as land steward of Taragi Manor in Kuma County, Higo Province. Meanwhile, Nagayori (Renbutsu) is said to have defeated Taira no Yorimori's deputy, Yase no Sumasuke, and entered Hitoyoshi Manor in Kuma County in 1198, but there is no confirmation of either of these events. ...

…遠江出身の中･近世武家。鎌倉時代，肥後国人吉荘等の地頭となる。近世には人吉藩主。藤原南家乙麻呂流で，伊豆の豪族伊東氏や工藤氏と同族。平安後期周頼が遠江国佐野郡相良荘(現，静岡県榛原郡相良町)に住し，以来相良氏を称するにいたったという。周頼4代の孫頼景およびその子長頼は関東御家人となり源頼朝に仕えた。頼景は1193年(建久4)肥後国球磨郡多良木荘の地頭として下向したと伝えられる。一方長頼(蓮仏)は98年，平頼盛の代官矢瀬主馬助を退けて，球磨郡人吉荘に入ったというが，いずれも確証はない。…
