Alawites - Alawites

Japanese: アラウィー派 - あらうぃーは

The secret doctrine, which originated in Shiite sect, is said to be a mixture of Syrian religions. Believers live in eastern Turkey and Syria. In Syria, they are a minority, making up 10% of the population. For a long time, they had been content with second-class citizen status under the Sunni-dominated regime. However, when France began recruiting locals as soldiers, many young Alawites responded due to their poverty. This trend did not change even after independence, and the Alawites eventually seized real power in Syria by taking control of the military. Many of the leaders of the Baath Party, including the late President Assad, are from this sect.

シーア派に起源を持つ秘伝の教義はシリアの諸宗教の混交といわれる。信者の居住地はトルコの東部とシリア。シリアでは人口の1割を占める少数派である。長らくスンニ派支配体制下で2級市民的地位に甘んじてきた。しかし、フランスが現地人を兵士として募集し始めると、貧しさゆえにアラウィーの若者の多くがこれに応じた。独立後もこの傾向は変わらず、やがて軍部を掌握することでアラウィー派がシリアの実権を奪取した。故アサド大統領以下のバース党の幹部にはこの派の出身者が多い。
