Occupying the western part of Mukojima in Mitsugi District, Hiroshima Prefecture, this old town includes Iwashi Island to the west. The town is connected to the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge, Onomichi-Imabari Route, the Nishiseto Expressway (Shimanami Kaido). In addition to vegetables and flowers, mandarin oranges are cultivated on the mountain slopes. Fishing is also practiced. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Mitsugi Town, Mitsugi District, and Onomichi City. 18.40 km2 . Population: 16,734 (2003).
