Unazuki [town] - Unazuki

Japanese: 宇奈月[町] - うなづき

An old town in Shimoniikawa County, occupying the mountainous area in the middle reaches of the Kurobe River in the northeastern part of Toyama Prefecture. Unazuki, the terminus of the Toyama Chiho Railway, was established in 1923 as a town of hot springs (simple spring, 60°C) drawn from Kuronagi and Futami. The Kurobe Gorge Railway runs further upstream to Keyakidaira, making it a base for exploring the Kurobe Gorge. Rice is the main agricultural practice, and the town is active in the power generation business, which utilizes the abundant water and rapids of the Kurobe River. The central and southern parts of the town belong to Chubu Sangaku National Park. It was incorporated into Kurobe City in March 2006. 339.58 ^km2 . 6,300 people (2003).

富山県北東部，黒部川中流域の山地を占める下新川(しもにいがわ)郡の旧町。富山地方鉄道の終点宇奈月は1923年黒薙(くろなぎ)，二見から引湯した温泉（単純泉，60℃）の町で，さらに上流の欅平(けやきだいら)まで黒部峡谷鉄道が通じる黒部峡谷探勝の基地。稲作を主とした農業を行い，黒部川の豊富な水量と急流を利用した発電事業が盛ん。町域中・南部は中部山岳国立公園に属する。2006年３月黒部市へ編入。339.58km²。6300人（2003）。
