The flying shuttle device was invented by the British J. Kay in 1733. It was introduced to Japan around 1873 along with the Jacquard. There are shuttle boxes on both sides of the reed, and when a string is pulled to flick the shuttle, it passes through the warp thread shed and enters the box at the other end. Until then, the shuttle was thrown by hand, but the mechanization of the shuttle throw with this device doubled weaving efficiency and made it possible to weave wide fabrics. The word originates from the French word battan, meaning "to hit." → Related topics Industrial Revolution | High-speed machinery Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
