Japanese: ミャゼーディ碑文 - ミャゼーディひぶん

The oldest surviving Burmese inscription. It was discovered near the Myazedi Pagoda in Myinkaba village, south of the Bagan ruins in central Myanmar, and is named after the Myazedi Pagoda, which is located in the grounds of the Khubyaukkyi Monastery (built in 1113). There are two stone inscriptions with the same text, one in the Bagan Museum and the other in the pagoda grounds. Both are tetrahedral stone pillars less than 2m high, and each side is inscribed in four languages: Pali, Mon, Burmese, and Pyu, a language that was unknown until Otto Blagden deciphered it in 1911.

現存する最古のビルマ語碑文。ミャンマー中部，パガン遺跡の南，ミンカバー村のミャゼーディ･パゴダMyazedi Pagodaのかたわらで発見されたためその名があるが，同パゴダはクービャウチー寺院(1113年建)の境内にある。石碑は二つあり，同文で，一つはパガン博物館に，もう一つはパゴダの境内にある。ともに2m足らずの4面体の石柱で，各面にパーリ語，モン語，ビルマ語と1911年オットー･ブラグデンによって解読されるまでは不明であったピュー語の4言語で記されている。
