Miyazu Domain

This clan ruled the area around Miyazu in Tango Province (Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture). In 1601 (Keicho 6), Kyogoku Takatomo, lord of Iida Castle in Shinano (Nagano Prefecture), was transferred to Tango with a fief of 123,200 koku and moved to Tanabe, the former castle of the Hosokawa clan. After Takatomo's death in 1622 (Genwa 8), his estate was divided into three by his will, giving 35,000 koku to his second son Takamitsu in Tanabe, 10,000 koku to his adopted son Takamichi in Mineyama, and 78,200 koku to his eldest son Takahiro in Miyazu. Takahiro built a castle in Miyazu and moved there in 1625 (Kan'ei 2), but his son Takakuni was found to have had discord with his father and was accused of poor governance, and was stripped of his fief in 1666 (Kanbun 6). After that, there were many changes in the feudal lords, such as Nagai Naoyuki in 1669, Abe Masakuni in 1681 (Tenwa 1), Okudaira Masashige in 1697 (Genroku 10), Aoyama Yoshihide in 1717 (Kyoho 2), and Honjo (Matsudaira) Sukemasa in 1758 (Horeki 8). The seventh head of the Honjo clan, Munetake, abolished the feudal domains and established prefectures. Among the members of the Honjo clan who held important posts in the shogunate, the third head, Suketsugu, served as the magistrate of temples and shrines, Osaka Castle governor, Kyoto Shoshidai and Roju, Muneakira served as the magistrate of temples and shrines, Kyoto Shoshidai and Roju, Munehide served as the magistrate of temples and shrines, Kyoto Shoshidai and Roju, and Muneaki opened the domain school Bunbukan (later Reijokan) in 1818 (Bunsei 1). In 1871 (Meiji 4), the domains were abolished and prefectures were established, and after becoming Miyazu Prefecture and Toyooka Prefecture, they were incorporated into Kyoto Prefecture.

丹後(たんご)国宮津（京都府宮津市）周辺を領有した藩。1601年（慶長6）信濃(しなの)（長野県）飯田(いいだ)城主京極高知(きょうごくたかとも)が丹後12万3200石に転封となり、細川氏の旧城田辺に入った。1622年（元和8）高知の没後その遺命により、所領は三分され、次男高三(たかみつ)に田辺3万5000石、養子高通(たかみち)に峰山(みねやま)1万石、長男高広には宮津7万8200石を分知した。高広は宮津に築城し、1625年（寛永2）ここに移ったが、その子高国は親子不和、治政の非をとがめられて66年（寛文6）除封された。そのあと藩主の交代激しく、1669年永井尚征(なおゆき)、81年（天和1）阿部正邦(まさくに)、97年（元禄10）奥平昌成(まさしげ)、1717年（享保2）青山幸秀(よしひで)、58年（宝暦8）本庄(ほんじょう)（松平）資昌(すけまさ)が入封。その本庄氏7代宗武で廃藩置県となった。本庄氏のうち幕府の要職についたのは、3代資承(すけつぐ)が寺社奉行(ぶぎょう)、大坂城代、京都所司代、老中、宗発(むねあきら)は寺社奉行、京都所司代、老中、宗秀は寺社奉行、京都所司代、老中を務め、宗発は1818年（文政1）藩校文武館（のち礼譲館）を開いた。1871年（明治4）廃藩置県となり、宮津県、豊岡(とよおか)県を経て京都府に編入。
