Jia Sixie - Kashikyo

Date of birth and death unknown. Author of "Qi Min Yaoshu," the oldest surviving Chinese agricultural book. All we know is that he was the governor of Gaoyang County (present-day Yidu County, Shandong Province) in the Northern Wei Dynasty, but his detailed career is unknown. "Qi Min Yaoshu," written around the 530s or 540s, was written with the intention of educating his domestic slaves on production and livelihood, based on his own farming experience as well as the facts he saw and heard in his post in Shandong Province, and is a valuable resource for understanding the agricultural techniques and farm management of the time.

生没年不詳。現存している中国の農書としては最古の『斉民要術(せいみんようじゅつ)』の著者。北魏(ほくぎ)の高陽郡（現在の山東省益都県一帯）大守であったことがわかるだけで、詳細な経歴は不明。530～540年代ごろに成った『斉民要術』は、彼が任地である山東省で見聞した事実とともに、自身の営農の経験を踏まえ、自家の家内奴隷に生産や生計を教育する意図で書かれており、当時の農業技術や農業経営を理解するうえで、貴重な資料となっている。
