...The capsule is ovate-elliptical, without a lid or teeth, and splits vertically into four parts in the center, from which spores are released. A. nivalis Hook. is distributed in the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, and in Japan it grows on wet rocks in high mountains north of the Chubu region. Unlike A. nivalis, the leaves are lanceolate and have a central vein.
