A former town in Kamiagata County, Nagasaki Prefecture. Located in the center of Tsushima, the town is engaged in agriculture and fishing. Most of the town area is covered by forests, and forestry is also thriving. The standing Buddha statue at Tsushima Province Ichinomiya Kaijin Shrine in Kizaka is an Important Cultural Property, and the town is also famous for its festivals. In March 2004, the town merged with Izuhara Town, Mitsushima Town, and Toyotama Town in Shimoagata County, Kamiagata Town in Kamiagata County, and Kamitsushima Town to form Tsushima City. 長崎県上県(かみあがた)郡の旧町。対馬の中部に位置し,農漁業を営む。町域の大部分を山林が占め林業も盛ん。木坂にある対馬国一宮海神神社の如来立像は重要文化財,祭礼も有名。2004年3月下県郡厳原町,美津島町,豊玉町,上県郡上県町,上対馬町と合併し,対馬市となる。72.44km2。2808人(2003)。
