Years of birth: Years of birth and death unknown. A jiuta shamisen artist from the mid- to late Edo period. Koto was an official rank for the blind, lower than Kengyo. Also known as Mitsuhashi, Mitsuhashi, or Mitsuhashi. Name unknown. Composed "Shochikubai" and "Nebiki no Matsu," two of the three most important large pieces in the tradition of Osaka-style jiuta. Both pieces are technically challenging, with many changes in tone. Based on the fact that the lyrics to "Shochikubai" first appeared in the "Zouho Shin Seikatsuru no Koe" (1796) and that a license dated January 1832 under the name Mitsuhashi Koto remains, it is believed that he was active in Osaka from the end of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. He also participated in the editing of a collection of jiuta lyrics called "Shin Taiseiito no Shirabe" (1801). He appears to have been a leading musician in the jiuta and koto music world of Osaka at the time.
