The central settlement of the former Nitta Town in the southern part of Ota City, southeastern Gunma Prefecture. Former town name. In 1956, it merged with two neighboring villages to form Nitta Town. It is located at the end of the alluvial fan formed by the former Watarase River. In the Middle Ages, it was established as a manor for the Nitta clan, and in the Edo period, it was a post town on the Nikko Reiheishi Kaido road. 群馬県南東部,太田市南部にある旧新田町の中心集落。旧町名。 1956年近隣2村と合体して新田町となる。旧渡良瀬川の形成した扇状地の末端部にある。中世,新田氏一族の荘園として開け,江戸時代は日光例幣使街道の宿場町であった。
