Born June 16, 1874, near Anderson, Ontario [Died] August 5, 1960, Toronto Canadian politician. Studied mathematics at the University of Toronto. Later studied law and became a lawyer in Winnipeg. Member of the House of Commons in 1908. Due to his achievements in the coalition government during World War I, he became Prime Minister in July 1920. Although his term as Prime Minister (July 1920-December 1921, July 1926-September 1926) was short, he advocated the abolition of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance at the British Imperial Conference in the summer of 1921 from the standpoint of Canadian nationalism. His main works are "Oversea Addresses" (21) and "Unrevised and Unrepented" (49).
