It is made up of Manhattan Island, surrounded by the Hudson River, East River, and Harlem River, and serves as the central administrative center of New York City. It is connected to Brooklyn to the south and Jersey City to the west by many bridges and tunnels. Lined with skyscrapers, it is home to Wall Street, Broadway, the United Nations Headquarters, Central Park, and many other attractions, and is a source of information for a variety of purposes. Population: 1,585,873 (2010).
