Manji Seiho - Manji Seiho

Japanese: 万治制法 - まんじせいほう

The basic laws of the Choshu domain were enacted between 1660 (Manji 3) and the following year at the command of Enomoto Totomi Noriyoshi by Mori Tsunahiro, the lord of the domain. Based on shogunate orders, it is a compilation of laws since Mori Motonari into 29 volumes. It is called the Manji Law because the main laws were enacted in Manji 3. The core of the law is four volumes: the Laws of the Family, the Laws of the Temples and Shrines, the Laws of the Town and County, and the remaining 25 volumes are implementing rules. It is included in "History of the Eleven Generations of the Mori Family" (Volume 7) and "Collection of Yamaguchi Prefecture Historical Materials" (Early Modern Legal System Vol. 1). [Ogawa Kuniharu]
