Malaita [island] - Malaita
An island in the southwest Pacific Ocean, southeast of the Solomon Islands. It is long and narrow, stretching from northeast to southwest, with mountainous areas over 1,000 meters above sea level, and sago palms are cultivated on the coast. Auki on the west coast is the town's center. Area: 4,225 km2 . Population: 137,596 (2009).
