Japanese: マミジロ(眉白) - マミジロ（英語表記）Siberian thrush

A passerine bird of the family Flycatcher (illustration). Total length 24 cm. The male is completely black with a prominent white eyebrow. The name Mamijiro (white-streaked flycatcher) comes from this eyebrow. The female's back is dark olive brown, and the underside has many pale black-brown crescent spots. Both sexes have thick black and white horizontal stripes on the underside of their wings, which are very noticeable when they fly. They breed in the northeastern part of the Asian continent, and migrate to southern China, South Asia, and the Malay Archipelago in winter. They arrive in Japan as summer birds in April and May, and live in the mountain forests of central Honshu and northward.

スズメ目ヒタキ科の鳥（イラスト）。全長24cm。雄は全身黒色で，よく目だつ白い眉斑がある。マミジロという名はこの眉斑に由来している。雌は背面が暗オリーブ褐色で，下面は淡く黒褐色の三日月斑が多数ある。雌雄ともに翼の裏面に黒と白の太い横帯があり，飛んだときによく目だつ。アジア大陸北東部で繁殖し，冬季は中国南部，南アジア，マレー諸島に渡る。日本には夏鳥として4,5月に渡来し，本州中部以北の山地の森林にすむ。
