An old town in the northeast of the Noto Peninsula, Suzu District, Ishikawa Prefecture. There is little arable land, and in the past many people migrated to the area to earn money as Noto Toji (master brewers). The town produces tobacco leaves, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. It is home to scenic spots such as Koiji Beach and Tsukumo Bay in the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park. In March 2005, it merged with Noto Town and Yanagida Village in Hōji District to become a town, called Noto Town. 53.81 km2 . Population 8,107 (2003). 石川県珠洲(すず)郡,能登半島北東部の旧町。耕地が少なく,かつては能登杜氏(とうじ)として出稼(でかせぎ)する者が多かった。葉タバコ,キュウリ,トマトなどを産する。能登半島国定公園の景勝地恋路(こいじ)海岸,九十九(つくも)湾がある。2005年3月鳳至郡能都町,柳田村と合併し町制,能登町となる。53.81km2。8107人(2003)。
