Xenogryllus marmoratus (pine cricket)
A medium-sized light brown cricket (illustration). Along with bell crickets, it has long been familiar as one of the most chirping insects. It is also known as chinchirorin. It lives near the roots of grass. It is an insect of the Orthoptera order, Eneopteridae family. It is widely distributed in Southeast Asia, and in Japan it can be found as far as Honshu. Body length is 22-25 mm. The head is small and is as wide as the front edge of the pronotum. The top of the head is rounded, and the antennae are thin. The eyes are small and round, protruding. There is a yellowish brown stripe on the back of the head. The pronotum is small and slightly wider toward the rear edge, and there is a thick brown vertical stripe in the center of its back.

淡褐色をした中型のコオロギの1種(イラスト)。スズムシとともに鳴く虫の代表として古くから親しまれてきた虫。別名チンチロリン。草の根際にすむ。直翅目マツムシ科Eneopteridaeの昆虫。東南アジアに広く分布し,日本では本州までいる。体長22~25mm。頭部は小さく,前胸背板の前縁と同じ幅。頭頂は丸みを帯び,触角は細い。眼は小さく,丸く突き出ている。後頭部に黄褐色のしまがある。前胸背板は小さく,後縁に向かってやや幅広となり,その背面中央部に太い褐色の縦帯がある。
