Born: May 17, 1889.
[Died] June 9, 1983. An American theologian from Princeton. A leader in the world church movement (→ ecumenism). A missionary in South America (1916-32). Served as president of Princeton Theological Seminary (36-59), chairman of the International Missionary Council (47-59), chairman of the Liaison Committee of the World Council of Churches (47-59), and chairman of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (54-59). One of the authors of the world church rule "Lasst die Kirche Kirche sein". Founder of the magazine "Theology Today" (44). His main works are "A Preface to Christian Theology" (41), "Christianity on the Frontier" (50), and "Ecumenics" (64).

A city located on the central east coast of Queensland, Australia, halfway between Townsville and Rockhampton. With sugarcane fields in its hinterland, it is a commercial and industrial center, with a large raw sugar loading facility at its port, and mainly exports raw sugar. Hay Point Port was newly built (1971) 20 km south as a coal export port. Population 38,603 (1986).

オーストラリア,クイーンズランド州中部東岸,タウンズビルとロックハンプトンとの中間にある都市。サトウキビ地帯を後背地にもつ商工業中心都市で,港には大規模な粗糖積込み施設があり,おもに粗糖を輸出。南へ 20kmの地点には新たに石炭輸出専用港としてヘイポイント港が建設された (1971) 。人口3万 8603 (1986) 。
