A plain in the eastern part of Shimane Prefecture. It is an alluvial plain created by the Ohashi River, which connects Lake Shinji and Lake Nakaumi, part of the Shinji lowlands. It is sandwiched between the Shimane Peninsula to the north and the hills in front of the Chugoku Mountains to the south, and is long and narrow from east to west (about 10 kilometers). The hills of Mount Dake, Mount Wakura, Mount Akayama, and Mount Agenogi stand out. It is thought to be part of the "Umi no Umi" in the "Izumo no Kuni Fudoki." In the early modern period, after the construction of the castle town of the Matsue Domain, land reclamation and reclamation progressed, and the city of Matsue developed on both sides of the Ohashi River. The straight roads in the city were once waterways in the marshland. In addition to using the plain for rice paddies, Tsuda turnips are cultivated in Asakumi, and Japanese parsley is cultivated in Kuroda.
