Kadobayashi - Kadobayashi

Japanese: カドバヤシ - かどばやし
Kadobayashi - Kadobayashi

...Kadomatsu refers to living trees that are erected inside or outside the house during the New Year holidays. They are generally called kadomatsu because pine trees are often planted at entrances to houses. However, they are also called kadobayashi, kadogi, haiminmatsu, etc., and are often erected in front of houses, on the dirt floor or alcove inside buildings, in front of the Shinto altar, or tied to the main pillar. The trees used are not uniform depending on the region, and include chestnut, sakaki, oak, magnolia, bamboo, or a mixture of two or three of these, in addition to pine.
