Japanese: マーケット･シェア（英語表記）market share

An index showing the size of the entire market that a particular product of a producer sells in the market occupies. It is also called market share or market share. For example, if the production volume of a certain product is s and the production volume of the entire market for that product is S , then market share M can be calculated using the following formula: s / S × 100 = M (%). However, when actually measuring it quantitatively, the following problems arise. First, what is the appropriate range of products that are in a competitive relationship with each other?

市場で販売されるある生産者の特定商品がその市場全体のなかで，どのくらいの大きさを占めているかを示す指標。市場占拠率，市場占有率ともいう。たとえば，ある商品の生産量をs，その商品の市場全体の生産量をSとするとマーケット･シェアMは次の式で計算される。　s/S×100＝M(％)　ただし，実際に数量的に測定するとき次のような問題が存在する。第1に，相互に競争関係にある商品の範囲をどこまでとるのが適切かということがある。
