A Soviet educator. After the revolution, he became the director of the Labor Colonia, a facility for detaining juvenile lawbreakers, where he engaged in the re-education of boys. Based on his experiences, he published educational novels such as "Poem of Education" and "The Flag on the Tower." He was also strongly influenced by Gorky and formed an educational philosophy, advocating collectivist education, which he called "education for the group, by the group, in the group."
