...There are said to be about 40 species in the Lilium genus, but the following species are cultivated in horticulture and are mainly used as cut flowers. L. spicata (L.) Willd. (English name devil's-bit, prairie pine) grows to a height of over 1m, has linear leaves, and produces small, dense, long spike-like flowers with pink-pink heads. It flowers in July.
