Born on March 27, 1897. Worked at Kodansha and Miyako Shimbunsha. During this time, he studied under Sakai Kuraki. In 1936, he founded Senryu. In 1941, he became chairman of the Japan Senryu Association. He passed away on January 27, 1960. He was 62 years old. He was from Tochigi Prefecture. He graduated from Utsunomiya Commercial School. His real name was Gen'ichiro. His works include Senryu and Haikai and Senryu Exploration.
