Usuki Bay

Located in the southeastern part of Oita Prefecture, on the west side of the Bungo Channel, this bay is the northernmost ria coast. The mouth of the bay is about 17 kilometers between Sekizaki (Jizozaki) on the Saganoseki Peninsula and Kusuyahana, and the bay extends about 13 kilometers southwest. There are fishing ports such as Saganoseki, Kamiura, Sashiu, Shimonoe, Itachiya, Kazanari, and Fukae, and fish such as sardines, sea bream, yellowtail, Spanish mackerel, mullet, grunt, and squid are caught. There are small islands such as Tsutajima, Mitsukojima, Kuroshima, and Tsukumijima within the bay, and the city of Usuki is located at the back of the bay.

大分県南東部、豊後水道(ぶんごすいどう)西側に位置し、リアス式海岸最北部の湾。佐賀関半島(さがのせきはんとう)の関崎(せきざき)（地蔵(じぞう)崎）と、楠屋鼻(くすやばな)との間で、湾口は約17キロメートル、南西へ約13キロメートル湾入。佐賀関、上浦(かみうら)、佐志生(さしう)、下ノ江(したのえ)、板知屋(いたちや)、風成(かざなし)、深江(ふかえ)などの漁港があり、イワシ、タイ、ブリ、サワラ、ボラ、イサキ、イカなどの漁獲がある。湾内に蔦(つた)島、三ツ子島、黒島、津久見島などの小島、湾奥に臼杵市街地がある。
