Honcho Getsuryo - Honcho Gatsuryo

Also called "Honcho Getsurei," the title is taken from the monthly order in the "Book of Rites," which describes the four seasons, but the contents explain the official affairs of the year. The Catalog of Books of Japan states that it was compiled in "six or four volumes, compiled by the shogun (Koremune), and contains the origins of official affairs throughout the year," so it was probably compiled around the time of Emperor Suzaku (reigned 930-946). Only one volume, volume two, covering April to June, remains, and the original is the Kanazawa Bunko edition (currently owned by Sonkeikaku Bunko), which was copied in the Kamakura period. It uses a method of explaining the origins of official affairs by quoting numerous books from ancient and modern Japan and China, and does not include any explanatory text from the author himself. However, many of the cited books, such as the "Hata clan family register," no longer exist, making them highly valued.

「ほんちょうげつれい」ともいい、書名は四季の時候を叙した『礼記(らいき)』の月令からとっているが、内容は年中の公事(くじ)を説いたもの。本朝書籍(しょじゃく)目録に「六巻、或四巻、（惟宗(これむね)）公方撰(せん)、記年中公事本縁（由来）」とあり、成立は朱雀(すざく)天皇（在位930～946）ころか。現存するのは4月より6月に至る巻二の1巻のみで、鎌倉時代書写の金沢文庫本（尊経閣(そんけいかく)文庫現蔵）を祖本とする。古今、和漢の多数の書物を引用し、それによって公事の由来を説明する方式をとり、著者自身の説明文はない。しかし引用書のなかには『秦氏本系帳(はたうじほんけいちょう)』など現存しないものも多く、その点で珍重されている。
