A type of historical text written in Thai, meaning "royal history." When referring to the narrower definition of "royal chronicle," it is often called "Phrāracha Pongsāvadān." While another type of historical text written in Pāli or Thai, "Tamnan," is written within the framework of Buddhist history, "Pongsāvadān" is characterized by always writing in Thai about the king's achievements, focusing on the genealogy of the royal line. Since the contents are often revised when the royal family changes, critical use is required. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
