Han Yi - Kanaku

A Chinese poet of the late Tang dynasty. His pen name was Chiyao. He was born in Chang'an (Xi'an, Shaanxi Province). In 889 (the first year of the Longji period), he passed the Jinshi examination. He became a Hanlin scholar and a military minister, and cooperated with Emperor Zhaozong in the elimination of the eunuchs. His one-volume collection of poems, "Xiang Ren Shu," is known for its extremely erotic style of poetry, which is called "Xiang Ren Shu" (Xiang Ren Shu is a woman's cosmetic box). There is another collection, "Han Hanlin Shu," in one volume, which shows his public face as a government official who rose through the ranks after becoming a Hanlin scholar. The two collections of poems are so far apart that it is hard to believe they were written by the same author. Moreover, this was an unusual phenomenon in the Tang Dynasty, when it was common for one poet to produce only one collection of poems. Unlike poets who ended up as lowly officials and were able to deal with the collapse of the Tang Dynasty by immersing themselves in love, Han Yan, who rose to a high position, had to disintegrate himself into two extremes in tandem with the disintegration of the system.

中国、晩唐の詩人。字(あざな)は致堯(ちぎょう)。長安（陝西(せんせい)省西安）の出身。889年（竜紀1）進士に及第。翰林(かんりん)学士、兵部侍郎となり、昭宗に協力して宦官(かんがん)の排除に力を尽くした。その詩集『香奩集(こうれんしゅう)』1巻により、香奩体（香奩は女性の化粧箱）とよばれる甚だエロティックな詩風で知られる。別に『韓翰林集(かんかんりんしゅう)』1巻があり、こちらは翰林学士を振り出しに出世コースを歩んだ官吏としての彼の表向きの面貌(めんぼう)を示す。二つの詩集は同じ作者の手になったとは思いがたいほどの隔たりを示している。かつ、1人の詩人には一つの詩集が通例の唐代において、異例の現象でもある。卑官で終わった詩人が恋愛に自己を埋没させることで唐王朝の崩壊に対処しえたのと異なり、高位に昇った韓偓の場合には、体制の解体が進行するのと軌を一にして自身を両極に分解していく必要があったためであろう。
