Mu-rong Huang; Mu-jung Huang
297‐348
Chief of the Murong tribe of the Xianbei people of the Wuhu region in China. Third son of Murong Wei. His courtesy name was Yuanzhen. After Murong Wei's death, he fought for power with his younger brother Murong Ren and others, but he defeated the Xianbei Yuwen and Duan 2nd Division, who were supporting them, and captured Goguryeo's capital Wandu, forcing Goguryeo to surrender. He also put pressure on Later Zhao, demanded the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and was given the title of King of Yan. In 341, he moved the capital from Jicheng (Jinzhou, Liaoning Province) to Longcheng (Chaoyang, Tong), and strengthened the nation by concentrating the various ethnic groups that had been conquered and returned to the region. He also showed a deep understanding of Confucianism and Buddhism, and wrote books himself, leading the way to the Central Plains state.
