A folding screen painting from the Nara period housed in the Shoso-in Repository in Nara City, a Shoso-in treasure. Six folding screens. Artist unknown. It depicts a beautiful woman in Chinese attire under a tree. The original form of the composition can be found far away in Western Asia, but it is thought to have been painted in Japan. It is also called the "Bird Feather Standing Woman Folding Screen" because bird feathers have been sewn onto the hair, kimono, and leaves instead of color.
