Bohemian glass

Bohemian glass
Glass art developed in the Bohemia region of Central Europe (present-day northwestern Czechoslovakia) from around the 13th century. The tradition is still carried on today in glass art in Czechoslovakia, Austria, Germany, and other countries. Its distinctive feature was the gorgeous engravings and cuts on table glasses made from colorless, transparent Kali Crystal glass. After the 17th century, when it gained fame as Bohemian Baroque glass, Bohemian glass came to dominate the European market, replacing Venetian glass, which had previously monopolized it.
