Bohemian Basin

Japanese: ボヘミア盆地 - ぼへみあぼんち（英語表記）Bohemian Basin

The Czech Republic is a basin in the northwest of the country, surrounded by mountains with an altitude of 1,000 to 1,500 meters. It is a rugged plateau stretching over an area of about 200 square kilometers, and is the basin of the Elbe River and its tributaries, the Vltava River and the Berounka River. The eastern part is separated from the Moravia region of the Czech Republic by the Český les (Bohemian-Moravian) Upland, and the remaining three sides are bounded by the Český les and Šumava Mountains (collectively known as the Böhmerwald), the Krušné hory (Orez) Mountains, and the Krkonoše (Riesen) Mountains, forming the borders with Austria, Germany, and Poland.

チェコ共和国北西部，標高1000～1500mの山地に囲まれた盆地。約200km四方に広がる起伏の多い高地で，ラベ(エルベ)川，その支流のブルタバ川，ベロウンカBerounka川などの流域地帯。東部はチェスコ･モラフスカ(ボヘミア･モラビア)高地でチェコ共和国のモラビア地方と分断され，残りの三方はチェスキー･レスČeský lesとシュマバŠumava山脈(〈ボヘミア森Böhmerwald〉と総称される)，クルシュネー･ホリKrušné hory(エルツ)山脈，クルコノシェKrkonoše(リーゼン)山脈によって囲まれ，オーストリア，ドイツ，ポーランドとの国境を形成している。
