A former town in Motosu County in the southwest of Gifu Prefecture. It is a rice paddy area between the Nagara River and the Ibi River in the northwest of the Nobi Plain, and residential areas and factories have been established here. It is served by the Tokaido Main Line and the Tarumi Railway, and many people commute to Gifu and Ogaki. In May 2003, it merged with Sunami Town to form Mizuho City. 16.44 km2 . 岐阜県南西部,本巣(もとす)郡の旧町。濃尾平野北西部の長良川・揖斐川(いび)の両川にはさまれた輪中(わじゅう)地域を占める水田地帯で,住宅地や工場が進出している。東海道本線,樽見(たるみ)鉄道が通じ,岐阜・大垣両市への通勤者も多い。2003年5月,巣南町と合併して瑞穂市となる。16.44km2。3万5076人(2000)。
